Cutting and Drilling

Laser cutting uses a combination of three methods - sublimation cutting, fusing cutting, cutting.
When sublimation laser cutting is the removal of material going its evaporation. In this method requires the laser beam and focusing the high energy density, which allows the material to evaporate. This produces steam which is blown a stream of cutting gas. The cutting gas is either argon or nitrogen. These gases prevent oxidation of the material. Because practically there is no melt, creating smooth cutting surface.
Hot cutting requires less laser energy than the sublimation cutting, because during this procedure, a material melt and the inert gas blown out of the kerf.
Cutting oxygen can achieve much higher speed of processing. In this case, instead of the inert gas used oxygen, wherein the material is heated above the ignition temperature reacts strongly exothermic and thus supplies the cutting march energy. Compared to the sublimation cutting is required only about one twentieth of energy.
Rapid removal of vapor needed for very good cutting quality can be achieved by high-intensity radiation, with the small diameter of the focus (<= 0.2 mm).

Cut and drilled can be different types of material in relation to the type of laser utilized.

Fiber laser is used for cutting and drilling of metallic materials such as steel, stainless and heat resisting steels, aluminum and its alloys, brass and its alloys, copper and its alloys etc.

CO2 lasers are used for cutting and drilling of organic materials such as plastics, wood, leather, textiles, paper etc.
